Its main function is to prepare your body and your mind to deal with stressful situations. It's actually a normal emotional and physiological response.
What Causes Anxiety?
Everybody feels anxiety from time to time. Why? Because in life there are and always will be stressful situations. Delivering a speech, facing a job interview, taking an exam, and so on.Short-term anxiety or normal anxiety is useful - it can help you perform to your best ability, it makes you more alert or careful. And most importantly – it ends soon after the situation that caused it is over.
And herein lies the problem – for some people anxiety lingers far longer than it should. To make everything worse it is also triggered by situations that usually don't require such a response. Why? There are many reasons - biological, psychological and environmental. It's usually a combination of genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and stressful environment.
As you can see, it's very complex and there is no one simple cause. There are many. And the fact that anxiety manifests itself into a number of both physical and psychological symptoms doesn't help much either.
However, all this does not mean that it is incurable. Anxiety attacks can be treated and successfully eliminated. Always remember this.
